About Me

I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics (DAIS) of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in the scientific sector IINF-05/A – Information Processing Systems.

I received the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering (2014 and 2017) and the PhD in Computer Science and Engineering (2021) from the University of Bologna, where I then worked as Postdoctoral Researcher and Junior Assistant Professor at the CVLab. During my PhD I was a Research Intern at Google Zurich.

Research Topics

My research areas are Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence, in particular:

  • Neural Networks for Computer Vision: depth estimation, semantic segmentation, optical flow, registration and anomaly detection from RGB images, 3D data and multi-modal sensors, including challenging transparent and mirror surfaces.
  • Weakly Supervised Learning: transfer learning, unsupervised domain adaptation, self-supervised and representation learning to reduce the need for annotated data.
  • Neural Networks as a New Data Modality: learning directly from the weights of trained networks, with a focus on neural fields (e.g., NeRFs and other implicit neural representations) and their connection with language models.
